Key Requirements:
• Ensure safety inspections of work areas and equipment are conducted.
• Conduct Job Task Inspections and Job Task Analysis.
• Identify safety, production, and maintenance needs for enhancement.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA and federal/state environmental regulations.
• Foster alliances and coordinate with other departments.
• Flexibility to work on-call and adjust schedules as required.
• Develop and optimize mine plans for different commodity prices and production scenarios.
• Collaborate with mine geologists for effective ore control.
• Manage orebody block models and drill hole databases for orebody modeling.
• Proficiency in software such as Vulcan, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Assist in project and mining budget preparation.
• Conduct economic analyses of projects and mining plans.
• Support project budgets with relevant data.
• Prepare service contracts when necessary.
• Lead or support recruitment of technical mine salary staff and organize/train technical teams.
• Develop career development plans for direct reports.
• Manage multiple tasks efficiently to prioritize time and work effectively.
• Perform other duties to support company objectives.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated safety record.
• Bachelor of Science degree from a 4-year ABET accredited mining engineering program (graduate degree/professional registration beneficial but not mandatory).
• 5 years of progressive mine engineering experience, including 2 years at medium to large open pit metal mines.
• Team player with leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience in mine reserve preparation and reporting.
• Proficiency in mine engineering phases including planning, design, modeling, and operational engineering.
• Familiarity with Vulcan mine planning software or similar tools.
• Experience in mine permitting activities (preferred but not mandatory).
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle for job duties.
