Mid-Level Structural Engineer Full Time

Our client is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer to join its Safety practice in Dayton, Ohio. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with a strong structural design background who is interested in applying their expertise to fall protection systems and helping clients develop practical, code-compliant solutions for safer work environments.

Salary: $106,000–$140,000, based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support structural engineering and fall protection design projects.
• Document existing structural conditions to support the installation of fall protection systems.
• Analyze structural components supporting fixed platforms, fall arrest anchorages, horizontal lifelines, and related systems.
• Evaluate structural steel, cold-formed steel, and cast-in-place concrete components.
• Develop fall protection layouts that integrate effectively with existing structures.
• Prepare detailed engineering calculations and design documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of construction drawings and project documents.
• Coordinate with design staff to ensure accurate and complete deliverables.
• Use Revit, CAD, Bluebeam, and structural analysis software to complete engineering assignments.
• Communicate with clients regarding project requirements and technical issues.
• Attend project meetings and support successful project delivery.
• Maintain and expand technical knowledge through professional development and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering; a structural emphasis is preferred.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with knowledge of structural engineering design.
• Experience with fall protection design is preferred.
• Experience with Revit and CAD; Bluebeam experience is advantageous.
• Experience with RAM or other structural analysis software.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910 and ANSI Z359 standards preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50–75%, including overnight travel to project locations throughout the United States.
• Ability to complete required background, drug, and motor vehicle checks.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to access and navigate jobsites in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean as required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work safely around typical construction-site hazards.
• Ability to meet the applicable weight capacity parameters associated with fall protection system designs.
