Mine Superintendent Full Time

Our client is seeking a Mine Superintendent to provide operational leadership across mining activities, with responsibility for safety, environmental compliance, production performance, cost control, and operational planning. This role will support short- and mid-range objectives and may require work across the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri based on production and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop short- and long-term mine plans, strategies, and operational tactics with management, peers, and relevant departments.
• Lead through front-line supervisors to ensure production goals are clearly communicated and effectively implemented.
• Monitor daily operating performance, identify issues, and work with front-line leaders on corrective actions.
• Support employee performance management, development, and workforce planning.
• Collaborate with site teams to address operational issues that may affect production or mill performance.
• Lead the annual departmental budgeting process and monitor financial results.
• Oversee state and federal mine inspections and complete required MSHA documentation.
• Respond to inspection findings and support continuous improvement in inspection performance.
• Maintain strong environmental, health, and safety standards through expectations, accountability, field audits, documentation reviews, and corrective action.
• Support continuous improvement in EHS performance and complete other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering field preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of mine operations management and capital project management experience.
• MSHA certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong knowledge of MSHA mine safety regulations and safe mining practices.
• Proficiency with computer-based business and operational systems, including Microsoft Office and relevant budgeting, HR, drafting, laboratory, reporting, and data systems.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in underground and outdoor mining environments.

Work Environment

The position involves regular use of computers, phones/radios, and personnel carriers, with frequent underground and outdoor work. The role may involve exposure to moving equipment, vibration, wet or humid conditions, confined spaces, heights, fall-protection requirements, respirators, and loud noise.

The position requires regular standing, walking, driving, and repetitive hand movements, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and rare lifting above 50 pounds. Post-offer requirements include successful completion of a drug screen, physical, and background check, including verification of education, employment history, and criminal record. A motor vehicle record review and ATF explosives possessor clearance may also be required.
