Senior Audit Associate – Charlotte, Wilmington & Raleigh, North Carolina

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Audit Associate to join its assurance team, with a preference for candidates based in Charlotte. This position is ideal for an accounting professional ready to take on greater responsibility across audit engagements while supporting junior team members and developing strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day fieldwork and assigned sections of audit and assurance engagements.
• Plan and perform audit procedures in accordance with professional standards.
• Prepare and review detailed audit workpapers and supporting documentation.
• Analyze financial statements, account balances, transactions, and internal controls.
• Identify accounting and audit issues and communicate findings to managers.
• Assist with engagement planning, budgeting, scheduling, and completion.
• Review the work of Audit Associates and provide constructive guidance.
• Communicate directly with clients to obtain information and resolve audit questions.
• Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and related reports.
• Research accounting and auditing matters as needed.
• Help ensure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Prior public accounting and audit experience required.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards.
• Experience performing financial statement audits and assurance engagements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines.
• CPA license or progress toward CPA certification is preferred.
• Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff.
